An air leak can also cause engine issues, along with letting dirt and other foreign materials into the engine. Inspect for loose, cracked, or damaged parts and bolts. Double-check your gaskets and look for gaps in the intake.
However, when Jay Clark called asking us to try out his newly refurbished 2017 Husqvarna TX300 dual sport, and after going over some of the parts list, we were excited to throw a leg over the bike. You can check out some of our past Jay Clark test rides like this 2017 KTM 300XC and this YZ250 Rebuild.

Lean Symptoms Lean symptoms in two-stroke dirt bikes include bogging or gagging and falling flat on its face when you crack the throttle, not running unless the choke is on, or having very harsh transition from a weak mid-range to strong top end. Adjust your metering rod. Cracking the throttle is not enough to activate the power jet, so do not adjust it.
A: As long as the bike is the same CC class (125/150 or 250/300) you will be fine UNLESS it is going to a YZ (They run a shorter bell) or to a 2017+ KTM (balanced motor - must run 38HV).
A bog from idle is a lean condition not a rich condition ! if you crack the throttle hard from idle on a smoker and it goes baooooor and dies it is lean, the motor sucks a huge gob full of air and dies, if you replaced the carb with say a 30mm item it would never happen
Your bike needs to be able to get the right amount of air to be mixed with the gas. A broken or loose vacuum line can result in too much air being drawn into the combustion chamber, which will alter the air/fuel mixture and not allow the engine to ignite the mixture properly. Check your vacuum lines for cracks and holes. Conversely, too little air can be the culprit as well. Make sure that air can pass through your air filter/intake. A dirty filter is an easy fix.
Hi 97cbr900rr. Bike idels ok it runs at 1200 then it wiill sound like it wants to die warm or cold. Bike will cruise any gear with easy throttle bring up rpm to 3500 up. Get on it hard. And bucks and stumbles. Soon as i back off throttle it rides fine. If i get on itSay 75 mph and really push it. It stumbles to 115 and no matter how much throttle i give it its not going any faster. I have had this bike to 165 many times with no problems. New pugs full rebuilt carb tank clean FILTER clean petcock new no pitched lines. Coil? Cdi? Vacuum leeak?? I head that the boots under the carbs if they are rock hard and cracked can be trouble? And as im righting this i M checking. ROCK HARD. CRACKED AND NOT TIGHT ??? ITS pouring rain now. Cant test ride. Think this is culpeit. Three of four bad shape
The second possible cause of this is less common but still something that needs to be checked. It can be caused by an air leak. Air leaks can be caused by cracks in the vacuum lines on some carbs, a crack in the air boot, or simply a loose clamp between the carb and the air boot. Remember, more air in the system means a leaner air/fuel ratio, thus causing an overly lean condition when the choke is turned off.
If the leak is on the air boot to carburetor connection, then tighten that clamp. This should fix it unless there is a crack in the air boot. If there is a crack, you will need to replace the air boot.
If the leak is on the vacuum lines, then it is easiest to just replace the offending line. Vacuum hose is really cheap, so this could very well be a 50 cent fix for you if that is the cause. Just take the cracked hose to your local auto parts store and have them cut you a new piece of the same inner diameter.
